123RD High School Day: A Day to Remember, a Memory to Treasure

— Mr. Dhanz Donato Frio

This is a photo of me with my friend from Martinelli, taken right after our last practice for High School Day. I didn’t get a chance to capture moments from the earlier days of practice, but this picture holds all the memories of the fun, hard work, and bonding we had during those times.

This picture brings me back to the moment when we were getting ready for our high school day performance. It was taken right after we had eaten, a moment when excitement and nerves were starting to set in. We were all gathered, trying to calm ourselves, but it was hard to ignore the pressure. Our minds were racing with thoughts about how our Grade 10 dance would turn out and whether it would stand out against the performances of the other grade levels.

There was a mix of emotions—anticipation, self-doubt, and a bit of overthinking—but we tried to shake off the worries and focus on doing our best. Despite the jitters, there was something comforting about being in it together, sharing laughs, last-minute tips, and the determination to make this a performance to remember. It’s a snapshot of the youthful mix of anxiety and excitement that made the moment feel so alive and unforgettable.

This marked the beginning of our dance, and it turned into something truly unforgettable. The first part completely caught us off guard—it wasn't in the practice, and we never saw it coming. It was unexpected but in the best way possible, adding an element of surprise that made the performance feel even more alive and extraordinary.

I can't help but admire all of Grade 10, especially those who stepped up to lead us. Their hard work, creativity, and passion shone through, making everything come together beautifully. It’s even more meaningful knowing that many of our leaders are part of the LGBTQ community, and they brought so much heart and authenticity to the performance. With our theme centered on celebrating LGBTQ pride, the dance became more than just a routine—it was a powerful statement of love, acceptance, and unity. This memory will always stand out as a moment of pure teamwork and inspiration.

This moment marked the end of our dance—a performance that wasn’t just about movements, but about a message. Our theme spoke volumes, showing everyone the importance of treating one another equally, regardless of gender. It was a reminder that respect and fairness should be extended to all, because equality is something we all deserve.

Even though we didn’t take home the trophy, what mattered most was that we stood up for what’s right. We put our hearts into sharing a message of gender equality and unity, and that in itself felt like a victory. Knowing that our performance inspired others made it all worthwhile.

As the dance ended, one thought stood out: “Equality is not a privilege—it’s a right. And change begins when we start treating each other with the fairness and dignity we all deserve.”

Building Bridges Through Networking: A Journey of Growth

Looking back, I’ve gained a lot of new knowledge and insights, particularly about networking. I learned how to use FrontPage, which opened my eyes to the creative possibilities of building and designing web pages. Along with that, I also delved deeper into understanding Ethernet cables—how they function and their importance in setting up reliable connections. While I didn’t get hands-on experience this time, it reminded me of when I actually made Ethernet cables back in Grade 9. Reflecting on that past experience, I realize how it helped me understand the practical side of what I’m currently learning. This taught me the importance of precision and patience in every way. Exploring different network types—LAN, MAN, WAN, and PAN—gave me a deeper appreciation for how technology connects and shapes our world.

Of course, the journey wasn’t without its challenges. One of the toughest parts was mastering the technique of creating Ethernet cables, which required attention to detail and consistent practice. Understanding the theoretical side of networks also felt overwhelming at times, especially with the depth of information involved. To overcome these obstacles, I leaned on persistence and curiosity. I practiced regularly, sought help from online guides and peers, and broke down complex topics into smaller, manageable pieces to make learning less daunting.

Moving forward, I’m excited to apply these skills to real-world situations and continue learning. I want to dive deeper into advanced networking concepts and explore new tools that will enhance my abilities. I’ll keep pushing myself to tackle challenges head-on, knowing that persistence and curiosity will always lead to growth. This quarter has been a stepping stone for me, and I’m eager to see how I can build on these experiences in the future.

Fifteen Years Ahead: A Vision of Growth, Passion, and Connection

Fifteen years from now, I picture myself living the life I’ve always dreamed of. By then, I see myself as a school graduate, having worked hard to achieve my goals and build a successful career. Psychology has always fascinated me, and I hope to be a professional psychologist who helps others navigate their emotions and challenges. It’s not just about having a job—it’s about making a difference in people’s lives while doing something I truly love.

I also imagine being financially stable, free from the stress of worrying about money, and enjoying a comfortable life. Living in France is part of that dream—it’s a place I’ve always admired for its culture, beauty, and charm. I want to wake up every day in a home where I feel happy and at peace, surrounded by all the things I’ve worked for. It’s not just about the location; it’s about creating a life that feels fulfilling and aligned with everything I’ve always wanted.

Most importantly, I see my future filled with love and family. Sharing my life with the person I care about most and staying close to my family means everything to me. I want to create a home where love, laughter, and support are the foundation of everything we do. It’s not just about my achievements—it’s about building a life full of meaningful connections and shared happiness. "The road may be tough, but every step forward brings you closer to your dreams." That’s the future I hope to create by facing every challenge with determination.

Women’s Month: United for Equality and Inclusion

Women’s Month is about celebrating the incredible contributions of women and recognizing that there’s still work to be done in achieving true equality. The theme, “WE for Gender Equality and an Inclusive Society,” is a powerful reminder that change doesn’t happen alone—it takes all of us working together. Gender equality means ensuring everyone, regardless of gender, has the same chances to succeed and lead fulfilling lives. It’s about fairness and respect, and by standing united, we can make that vision a reality.

An inclusive society goes beyond gender—it’s about welcoming and valuing everyone for who they are. It’s about breaking down barriers that exclude people based on their identity, background, or circumstances. When inclusivity thrives, so do individuals and communities, creating a stronger and more compassionate world. The theme reminds us that unity and support are key to making meaningful progress. Together, we can create a society where everyone belongs.

This Women’s Month, let’s focus not only on celebrating achievements but also on taking actions that make a difference. Whether it’s speaking up for fairness, supporting one another, or practicing kindness in small, everyday ways, these steps matter. Change begins with each of us, and when we work together, the impact is powerful. As the saying goes, "Equality is not a concept, it’s a necessity." Let’s commit to creating a future built on fairness, inclusion, and hope.

Valentine’s Day: Celebrating Love in All Its Forms

Valentine’s Day, celebrated on February 14th, is all about showing love and care in ways that truly matter. It’s a day rooted in history, inspired by Saint Valentine’s brave actions to unite couples. Today, people celebrate it with meaningful gestures like flowers, chocolates, and heartfelt notes, all designed to say, “You’re important to me.” But beyond words, it’s the actions that speak the loudest—"Actions matter more than words." Valentine’s Day reminds us to turn our feelings into something real and thoughtful.

While it’s often seen as a day for romantic couples, it’s much more than that. Valentine’s Day is a celebration of all kinds of love—the love we share with friends, family, and even those in our community. Friends laugh together, families bond, and people spread kindness to one another. It’s a time to embrace relationships that bring joy and connection into our lives. Because love isn’t just about grand declarations; it’s about the small acts of care that show someone they’re valued—"Love is found in the little things."

Beyond the roses and gifts, Valentine’s Day also reminds us of the importance of loving ourselves. It’s a moment to reflect, appreciate our own worth, and practice self-care. When we nurture self-love, it strengthens our ability to share love with others. This day teaches us that love starts within us and grows outward, forming connections that make life brighter— "You can’t pour from an empty cup; love yourself first." Valentine’s Day celebrates the many ways love touches and transforms our lives.
